And Now for Something Completely Different 23

Shown here are several different range of figures to be used in Critical Mass at some point in the distant future. These all appeared in the last entry for this year's Analogue Painting Challenge.

First up is a half section for the ARC forces. The figures are from Ground Zero Games 15mm New Israeli troops and are the standard figure used for an infantry man in this force.

Next up, again from GZG are missile and las-cannon armed troopers that will be used for Tank Hunters in their own right or as support troops within platoons.

The next miniatures are from Critical Mass and are their ARC Drop-ship Troopers. Slightly larger than the GZG figures but not so they can't be used together.

Next to be painted in this range will be Augmented troopers - that is power armoured - from Critical Mass and then a range of support weapons from GZG. Then the walkers and vehicles.

Blood and Souls for My Lord Arioch 4

Another two Chaos Warriors from Citadel in the early eighties. These figures were a part of the last submission for the Analogue Painting Challenge and were a blast from the past.

First up is an iconic figure that was a major image in the start of what some now refer to Oldhammer: Harry the Hammer or Uthmog Elvenblade.

This figure will be used a Chaos Champion in Songs of Blades and Heroes and possibly Oldhammer itself.

A great miniature that captures the feel of the early days of this gaming life perfectly; looking forward to seeing the future games with this one.

Next is another Chaos Warrior as shown in the Citadel Compendium Two - a miniatures bible at the time of publishing circa 1984.

There will be more from this range throughout the rest of this year as the other miniatures from this range are awaiting undercoating.

All Hell Let Loose 12

Another set of "Big Cats" for the 20mm WW2 Germans that have been painted off and on for several years now. These were a part of the last entry submitted for this year's Analogue Painting Challenge. The three Panthers are all from Frontline Wargaming.

These models will hopefully see use in Disposable Heroes, Memoir 44 and perhaps even re-kindle a spark of interest in Rapid Fire.

There will be more to follow from the Challenge soon and a return to normal painting updates as well.

Dance of Bronze 9

This is the start of Macedonian and Greek armies in 6mm with figures from both Baccus and Rapier Miniatures.

These figures will provide the skirmish lines for both armies, although there may be more peltasts and Agrianians for both armies in the future.

Rapier Miniatures

In terms of quality of figure both Rapier and Baccus are good, although Baccus whilst slighter are the better. That said depending on what you want to achieve don't disregard Rapier Miniatures figures as they are good range.

Rapier Miniatures

All of the figures are based on 20 x 40mm stands and will be used for both ADG and Impetus once completed.

Baccus Miniatures

These figures are a major change of scale here away from 28mm and so far have been easy to paint. They won't however, stop 28mm figures appearing here either singly or on multi-figure bases.

Next up from this range will be Hypaspists as both spear and pikemen.

Blood and Souls for my Lord Arioch 3

As recently posted on Analogue Painting Challenge here are five more retro Citadel figures for Songs of Blades and Heroes.

A High Sorcerer of Chaos from CO2 as shown in Citadel Compendium Two.

Rackhir the Red, or at least an artistic impression of him for the Chaos warband. Although not strictly correct for a Warrior Preist of Phum - he is not monotone in red - the yellow ochre lifts the red and gold that has been used on other parts of the figure.

The next three figures are the back bone of the warband and are all from the Citadel Compendium Two's listing of Chaos Warriors.

With these three figures the emphasis has been on their arms and armour, key elements in the figures sculpts. The character of these sculpts sets them apart - personal opinion - from their modern counter parts.

There will be more from this range in the coming weeks.

And Now for Something Completely Different 22

The theme of the entry figure for the Analogue Painting Challenge or Curtgeld posed some problems when first announced. Given that there have been a few Chaos Warriors painted by here in this year's challenge the first thought was of Elric himself however, a suitable figure just couldn't be found.

So staying with a literary theme another character was brought out of the archives; this time Kheldar from David Eddings' The Belgariad. Kheldar or Silk as he was more commonly known was a small rat faced man who was a thief, trader, spy, assassin and heir to the throne (2nd in line) all in the one package. Silk was mostly a cynic who seemed an unlikely hero and yet a times proved to be more than worth of the title of hero. Of his early days little is known, so with some artistic license and no doublets or jaunty hats here is Silk, Prince Kheldar of Drasnia:

The figure is the Human Assassin from Otherworld Miniatures Dungeon Adventurers range and suited exactly what was looked for. Kheldar was a knife fighter at heart and the figure shows this well along with other items of his darker trade.

Anyway enough ramblings, here are the rest of the pictures, hope that you like them.

As with last year's entry figure this figure will be repainted for my own collection. Safe to say there will be more Otherworld Miniatures joining him throughout the coming months for a retro style dungeon party.

Back to the Brushes 102

This week will see a lot of 15mm Sci-Fi Figures getting painted and completed in a last rush towards the end of the Analogue Painting challenge. This will include Dropship Troopers from Critical Mass and variety of Ground Zero Games New Israeli Infantry to add to those already painted. Below is a quick snap of the Augmented troopers from Critical Mass that will also be a part of this weeks painting.

The dark grey undercoat will help in the base coating of these figures as their armour will be tank grey in colour. There are troopers with both laser and plasma cannons here, four stands of each so these will be heavy hitting troops and a link between infantry and the armour for this force.

If time allows there are also a couple of pre-slotta Chaos Warriors and Uruk-hai that will see a bit of painting time.

The Curtgeld figure will also be making an appearance this week to.
