Back to the Brushes 295
A few things on the go at the moment for AHPC XI.
Starting at the bottom left there are two C09 Dark Elf Sorceresses from back in the early days of painting miniatures.
Next is a Norman Crossbowman to complete a srand of crossbowmen for use in ADLG
Then from Footsore Miniatures a Healer for the Spartan Lochas in Mortal Gods.
On the top row is the start of the riders for two stands of Prodromoi. Looking for a different look to the flesh on these figures than on some other Greeks and Spartans. The base colour here is Vallejo Heavy Flesh; from here not yet sure how to go, most likely washed with Army Painter flesh wash and then layered with either Foundry or Vallejo flesh tones.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers for now

The other Spartans are from Xyston and will appear shortly as if the above pic is slightly out of focus then the 15mm's were totally out of focus.

Been building this watch post or road side shrine based on the blog of Wargaming with Silver Whistle and the fantastic book that has been published as a result of this blog: Setting the Scene Vol 2. Recommend both to anyone interested in building their own terrain and wargaming modelling in general.

Continue the theme from the last post here are several more finished terrain pieces.
First up is a haystack English Civil War style from Hovells in 15mm.
Next, a shrine or altar piece from Grand Manner purchased when you could get bare resin from them.
The next two pictures are of a 15mm farm house for American Civil War based games. This is also from Hovells in 15mm.
The final piece is again from Hovells, this time from their 20mm Battlefield range and is a doocot from the farmhouse set, which will follow shortly. Whilst sold for use in WW2 based games, this piece and the others in the set could easily be used for earlier conflicts as well.
This takes this month's 30 days 30 miniatures painting challenge to
Day 19: 4 resin terrain pieces, for a running to total of 6 finished figures.
Hope that you found this interesting.
Cheers for now.

The next finished item was painted from start to finish in just over 90 minutes. This ruined column from Templar Scenery is intended for use with Mortal Gods and other skirmish style games in 25 - 28mm.
The pictures show the painting in two stages:
Above the finished item with layering completed in two stages:
- Layer 1 - Base coat Dheneb Stone
- Layer 2 - Dheneb Stone and Wraithbone mix (1:2 ratio)
The pillar was finished off with a light dry brush with Wraithbone and White mix (1:1 ratio).
The base mix is from the Geek Gaming Base Ready range - Mediterranean Soil; a new item here and the first use, that is this column is promising for future basing. It will certainly be quicker than the current method of gluing sand, inking, dry brushing and then adding static grass and tufts.
Now to the stats
Day 13: 1 x 28 ruined column, taking the total this challenge to 2 items.
With 17 days to go until the end of this challenge there is a lot of painting to do; however there has been a lot of painting happening in the background too.
Hope that you found this of interest.

Dance of Bronze 19
The Skirmishers will be used in Mortal Gods to support their Hoplite brothers on the flanks and rough ground. They will also provide limited ranged attacks on opposing hoplites as well.
The muted and earthy tones used will be an interesting juxtaposition to the red of the Spartan Hoplites that will make up the main part of this force at present.
With skirmish games scatter terrain is a key element of the table top, in my opinion that is; so here is the first of about a dozen individual resin pieces.
From Grand Manner this table and pots/urns collection was also a part of this year's AHPC X. The resin piece has been glued to the circular base from Warbases and textured to suit. Not really sure how it will effect the game other than to set the scene.
More finished items to follow from this year's Challenge in the next week or so.
In these changing and trying days take care of you and yours.
Cheers for now.

Above are four Hearthguards for a slow moving SAGA Romano British Warband. These venerable figures have been waiting to be painted for the last decade and where primed inlast year's challenge.
Below are three skirmishers for the Spartans in Mortal Gods. The poor quality of the picture doesn't show the red well on either the skirmishers or the Ashigaru next to them.
The next picture is poor quality again. Limited lighting and poorxquality control. The figures are from Museum Miniatures and are part of the expanding generic Arab forces in 15mm. Out of frame are another four to make three stands of cavalry.
More to follow shortly.
Cheers for now.
