With a Rebel Yell 13
Confederate infantry advancing from Old Glory. The command stand was painted earlier this year.
The other five bases were painted during the first 30 days 30 Miniatures Painting Challenge or was it the second.
The Old Glory figures have great character amd paint up well. There will be more of these sooner and later.
Cheers for now.

Back to the Brushes 245
Yesterday was the last day of the current 30 Days 30 Miniatures Painting Challenge; which earlier this week looked like it was not going to happen.
A last push at the finish line made the following possible:
First up are Confederates from Old Glory. These 15mm figures are animated and characterful; just what you need for charging the Union lines.
Next, an old mid nineties skeleton from Citadel or Marauder Miniatures. A great figure to paint, perfect for finishing off a painting challenge.
Completed this challenge:
Day 30 - 34 figures completed.
Cheers for now

With a Rebel Yell 12
Painted in 2018 and finally based and ready for action in 2019 these casualty stands and command stand are from Friekorps and Old Glory's Blue Moon range.
Needing to go back to using the main camera rather than the phone cam, however its a time thing and everything can be done on the device. Time can be daunting just now.
Some what more daunting is the twenty odd stands of foot at the back of the painting desk. Will get there soon.
Cheers for now.

With a Rebel Yell 11
Recently completed command stand, out of ammo markers and a casualty marker for cavalry are shown below.
The command stand and out of ammo markers are from Old Glory's Blue Moon range.
The casualty markers are from Freikorps and were great to paint. Casualty markers often prompt the thought of getting and painting a few "flats" for the fun of it. Maybe someday...
Thanks for visiting.

Back to the Brushes 164
June has been a slow month for hobby time here with little progress happening on several on going projects.
The command and casualty stands for Confederates in the ACW move on steadily.
Even slower is the progress being made on the Arthurian warband and for SAGA. The companion figure for the foot Warlord needs some attention to allow that figure to completed as a small diorama base that will allow the Warlord to be removed and placed with two Companion Hearthguard figures on a separate stand.
Finding blogging via a smart phone a bind, something that will hopefully not be an issue for much longer.
Next up will be some more Rebels.
Cheers for now.

Hoping this works out ok as pictures taken, edited and uploaded from phone instead of the now defunct desktop computer.
A variety of stands for ACW Confederates including command, artillery, infantry and cavalry casualities. A mixture of Blue Moon from Old Glory and Friekorps.
The peltasts move forwards at a snail's pace. There is a fourth now with base colour on tunic.

Heartguard for SAGA are getting near to a final session to complete the first part of the warband. The Warlord (on foot) has just been finished although his companion still has the bulk of the figure to paint.
The painting desk in all its chaotic glory.
Next up will be the first completed ACW stands.
Cheers for now.

Back to the Brushes 159
Continuing on from the previous post here are the first batch of command stands for the CSA infantry.
Also on the table in varying stages are some casualty markers for cavalry, foot and artillery.
For all of these figures will be block painting and washing in either strong or dark tone Army Painter wash. Looking to create a good atmospheric feel to the figures, that is dark and grim, with out taking a life time to do so. Time isn't something that is greatly available here although the figures do warrant some effort just not three layers and wash on an 18mm figure.
Next post will show some completed figures from a much older period.

With a Rebel Yell 9
Been a while since anything for the American Civil War has been painted and here is the start of some seventy bases of infantry for the Confederates shown below.
Figures are from Old Glory's Blue Moon range and block and wash well enough for the rule of three foot. An interesting approach from a fellow blogger can be viewed here; wish had thought of this years ago.
To be used for with Battle Cry, Fire and Fury and Pickett's Charge.
Next up will show some more of the same in various stages of painting - predominately command stands too.

Back to the Brushes 128
A bit of a mixed bag here with a variety of work in progress pictures to show.
6mm figures from Rapier Miniatures for the extremely slow moving Greeks and Macedonians for ADG or whatever else takes the mood.
A return to Project S and the Sassanids in 28mm. Figures from Gripping Beast and some progress being made on a unit of archers for Basic Impetus or Impetus.
Next, two stands of javelin armed troops for a generic 15mm Arab style army for Basic Impetus. Have enough figures to create the core units for most Arab/Moor armies of the late Dark Ages and Crusades as long as you don't demand historical purity with the figures.
These figures have been passed on here so thought it only right to take them to the brush and colour them in. As with all 15mm figures the method of painting here is block and wash. Think the javelin armed troops are old Minifigs and know the archers below are Essex
A couple of stands of Confederates that needed dusting and then saw a little paint. The picture shows that they need a little more here and there too.
Lastly more Sassanids, Arab archers and 6mm pikes.
Hope that this is of interest to you all.

With a Rebel Yell 7
Here are the rebased CSA Cavalry for use with Battle Cry or Fire and Fury. The figures are thought to be mostly Essex but now way of knowing for sure.
Not an expert on the ACW however think that there are some of Essex's First Virginian cavalry in the picture above.
A few more loose ends to complete with these figures and then on to painting the undercoated masses of infantry and cavalry waiting in the sides.
Next up a brief interlude from the Dark Ages
Cheers for now
