C Beams Glitter in the Dark 5

These appear to have been missed after being shown in the AHPC VII, so catching up with them now.

Figures are Heavy Plasma cannons from Ground Zero Games New Israeli 15mm Marines range. As with all of this range they are well sculpted and paint well.

Hoping to start showing some new work progress in the near future.

Cheers for now

Back to the Brushes 125

Been a bit under the weather the last few weeks, well we all have really which has meant nothing serious getting done on the hobby front during this time.

So here are the pictures taken before the onset of the family lurgy

A new edition, the Hellcat from MMS Models. A heavy all metal pieces that will hopefully be complete by the end of challenge. Pictured next to him is the Curtgeld figure from the Penda vignette from Gripping Beast. Might have to paint this set again in the future.

A Sexton from Britannia Models, not a challenge piece as it was originally start some years back.

Three more Mk II Carriers that are a bit further on than shown as are the Heavy Plasma cannons shown below from Ground Zero Games

Originally started for West the Rangers of Ithilien will have to muster for characters from a book theme.

There you have it, best part of two weeks out of action and very little to show for it.

Hoping to change this over the next few days.

Cheers for now

C Beams Glitter in the Dark 2

Plasma cannons for ARC forces in Critical Mass - figures from Ground Zero Games.

These where undercoated for last year's Analogue Painting Challenge and have only recently been completed.

Most likely, this year's challenge will see more 15mm Sci Fi figures getting some paint layered on. Still have the recon troopers and mecha walkers from Critical Mass as well as a militia platoon from Ground Zero Games to complete before moving on to the last of the grave tanks. Will see what turns the eye nearer to the time before making any final decisions.

A couple of more stands from this force will be with you soon.

Cheers for now

C Beams Glitter in the Dark

After dropping the Now For Something Completely Different title for fantasy and sci-fi figures and new title for each was needed. After some thought and reflection on possible titles the above has been stolen from Blade Runner's final scenes for the Sci-Fi figures:

Pictured below are another two command stands for use in Critical Mass with the figures being from Ground Zero Games

Some more finished pieces to follow shortly

And Now for Something Completely Different 29

This posts marks the end of the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge 6 and also the end of this series of blog posts. The reason for stopping the "and now for something completely different"theme is the contents of the posts are no longer that different.

These have already been shown in the Challenge and are from Ground Zero Games - the Grav Sleds. There are two light gun sleds and a mounted plasma cannon  below. All are 15mm scale and will be used in Critical Mass in the future.

Light Grav Gun Sleds

The next pictures show the two scout grav sleds that will be used in support of recon troopers for the ARC forces in Critical Mass - the recon troopers to follow in the coming weeks.

There will be more completed pictures soon and some work in progress as well.

Cheers for now.

Back to the Brushes 107

A quick update before the end of the painting challenge showing some work in progress items for Critical Mass. Before describing what is being worked on a quick apology for the pictures - quick pics and not pod to support the camera equals slight fuzziness (poor exposure) on some of the pics.

Above are four gun sleds from Ground Zero Games - two light on the right and two scout on the left. These are the start of the armoured support for the infantry that has been getting painted here over the last two painting challenges. In the future there will be assault sleds and heavy gun sleds as MBT as well.

Part of the colour theme in painting this force has been to use darker colours for heavier units so all the Grav sleds will be based on a dark grey base coat, washed and dry brushed up to enhance the detail of these vehicles. Some of the heavier units will also sport some camouflage as well, more of that in the coming months.

Two objective markers from Critical Mass with attendants from Ground Zero Games; enough said. Also showing a Gripping Beast Viking that is lurking too close to the edge of the painting table in the hope that he will be next. Who knows on that...

Grav gun platform with heavy plasma cannon again from Ground Zero Games.

Heavy mortar section again from Ground Zero Games - are you seeing a common theme to this post?

Lastly a specialist recon unit - this time from Critical Mass Games - to fit in with the ARC units already painted. This unit will not be a standard unit as the stats will come from the Merc rules and as a result will be a little bit different.

That is all for now as time is running out to get this lot completed for the end of the challenge.

Cheers for now.

And Now For Something Completely Different 28

Shown below are the figures that made their first appearance on the Analogue Painting Challenge earlier this week.

The figures are from Critical Mass Games' ARC Forces range and are Augmented (Power Armoured) Infantry.

Plasma cannon armed troopers

Painted as an elite unit that has options to field either laser cannons or plasma cannon armed troopers. The finely detailed castings from CMG are great to paint and show considerable detail from a distance.

Currently working on some more support units for this force from Ground Zero Games which hopefully will be completed for the challenge's end date.

Laser cannon armed troopers

That's all for now

Cheers

Back to the Brushes 106

A brief up date on this years painting challenge progress or lack of it to be fair!. The main challenge this year has been finding the time to paint. With a reduced challenge level it has still be at major struggle to achieve a level of painting time to complete any figures to enter into this years challenge.

So what has been started and what has stalled? Simple really, nearly everything has stalled and new things have been started.

Below are a few stands for Critical Mass from Ground Zero Games including mortars, plasma cannons and HMG's. Four of each to be precise and these are moving on steadily.

Next are Recon troopers from the Critical Mass ARC range to tie with previously painted figures. Still to be undercoated as you can see but am hoping to have at least a reduced company completed by the end of the challenge.

Next is where the real change happened, in that at the start of the challenge the intention was to paint a Basic Impetus Macedonian army. Well this just isn't going to happen. The archers below will be completed and possibly the prodromoi and slingers but the rest of the army will remain undercoat black at present. Just one of those things, this army requires more time than is currently available to paint.

Three 20mm WW2 German armoured cars should also be ready by the end of the challenge, which will complete the German vehicles for this period.

Lastly, the Augmented Troops from Critical Mass that will be finished very soon as the varnish is drying in this picture.

There will be more regular updates in the coming weeks

Cheers for now
