Back to the Brushes 341

Rebasing is the bane of many a wargamer and it's no different here which is why these have sat in their storage box over the last 2 years waiting to be textured, flocked and tufted.

The above Late Roman Equites Primo Sagittarii where originally painted and based back in 2013 for Impetus. They have now been joined by another unit below and both are now based on 60mm fronts for use in ADLG and anything else that suits.

All the riders are from Gripping Beast as are the unarmoured horses. The armoured horses are from Footsore although they were originally purchased from their predecessors Musketeer Miniatures.

The colour scheme was developed from the images on the Notitia Dignatitum shown below. in the second row, second from the left:

Used the red as a spot colour to allow it to draw the eye in rather than fill the figure with large areas of red; plenty of other figures to do that on.

Will post some pics of the finished bases when ready and now looking at stand or two as the army lists allow it and the figures are already primed.

Hope that this was of interest.

Cheers for now.

Back to the Brushes 340

Bilbo said "Don't adventures ever end?" The same is true of some armies and the Late Romans are one of those here as there is always another unit needing painted.

This time it's a stand of light infantry archers that will be used in Later Roman, Patrician Roman, Romano Brits and possibly Arthurian Briton armies for ALDG in 28mm. Along with a few command figures to complete a general's base for ADLG.

The archers are from Gripping Beast and have these new fangled separate hand thingees whilst the command figures are from Foundry, the smaller sculpts of the two groups.

Looking to make some quick progress on these chaps and integrate the command figures into an existing stand whilst the archers join the ranks of Light Infantry and support figures for DBA and ADLG.

Hope that this was of interest to you?

Cheers for now

Back to the Brushes 339

Well, its official that this paint pot is now completely empty. Like say proper empty on the lines of a good bottle of red where you wring out the last drops.

Having stood on its top end for a day before using the last drops were teased by an equally decrepit brush - basing is rough on the nylon brushes hairs.

A few finished items including the afore mentioned Arabs to follow shortly.

Cheers for now

How Far Jerusalem 4

Completed bases below for a second DBA Late Crusaders army in 15mm from Gladiator Miniatures.

These figures are loosely based on the Knights of Jerusalem and the mounted knights and sergeants will follow later in the spring or early summer.

Finding that there was an odd figure left over that wouldn't suit for a element of light horse on its own, the addition of a casualty figure saves the day.

A few bases of Arabs to help chase the Crusaders on their way will follow shortly.

Cheers for now

Back to the Brushes 338

Back to the French Indian War with these Coureurs de Bois from AW Miniatures.

These will be for use in Muskets and Tomahawks or Rebels and Patriots.

The figures from AW Miniatures have a style of their own that shines through in their sculpting and character.

Another session with these later this week will add some more colours to them, mostly reds and browns.

Hope that you find this interesting

Cheers for now

Fantasy Hero 23

A few retro skeletons recently completed for the AHPC XII

Think that the figures are from Marauder and Citadel. The shields came from a bitz trader on ebay and are of the more recent plastic style than the original hole in the middle style.

These will join a few others painted in previous AHPC's for use in Songs of Blades and Heroes or similar skirmish games.

Hope that you found this interesting.

Cheers for now

Fantasy Hero 22

Recently shown in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge XII, these Undead archers from Oathmark ate far from heroes.

Raised from the grave by fell necromancy to fight again against the living.

The figures are from the Oathmark range and build and paint very well. The rules suggest a 25mm square base however, this just didn't suit my own personal taste.

In game terms its aesthetics only as it's easy to convert over to 20mm square very quickly. The bases did need a little trim around the edges to fit though!

There will be some more finished and work in progress pics over the next few days.

Stay safe
