Fury of the Norse 7

These Vikings have been completed for a few days now, just waiting on time to post to Analogue Hobbies and then more time to past to post here. The figures are all from Gripping Beast with the central figure coming from their range of Rus. Sabot based to allow use for both Impetus and SAGA. The shields have all be hand painted and although there are no fantastic designs this still takes time to complete.

A few close ups of some of the individual figures that help make up the full base.

Yet more Vikings, this time only for SAGA, well at this stage anyway. Again the figures are from Gripping Beast's Viking range - this time the Ulfhednar which will be used as Berserkers in SAGA, hopefully living up to their name as well. These gents owe their being painted to DeanM's great blog at WAB Corner. Well worth a visit if you haven't already joined Dean's followers.

Again some close ups of the individual figures.

Having a game of SAGA very soon so will post some pictures of these gents and colleagues in action when ready.

Cheers for now

Back to the Brushes 49

A few pictures of some progress on a variety of different items that are currently being worked on at present. Firstly the mercenary peltasts from Foundry that are so nearly there, one more highlight on the red then its straps and helmets. An easy run into the finish here.

Below are 4 Stug from Battlefront and these are just starting out. In this scale the assault guns are relatively easy to paint and paint up quickly. Hopefully there will be completed pictures of these very soon.

The Vikings below are a that stage when the bulk of the figure is painted, its the remainder however, that takes the time. As with all the bases for the Impetus Vikings that have already been painted there will not be a uniformed approach as it looks wrong for these figures. So there is a still a fair bit of work to go on with these guys.

As always there is always one figure that draws more attention than the rest and as shown below, this one is nearer completion than his fellows.

Lastly, is yet another casualty marker, this time from Perry Miniatures. This is believed to be the last Dark Ages casualty marker, but that has been said before.

Thats all for just now and hopefully there will be more shortly.

Back to the Brushes 48

A quick picture to show some progress on the peltasts at long last. Hoping to have these finished sooner rather than later.

Sorry about the quality, but there wasn't enough light or time this morning to take any more.

Back to the Brushes 47

A variety of pictures of different items at different stages in painting. Firstly, there are some Gripping Beast Ulfhednar that will be gracing a table very soon as Berserkers in SAGA. Being a bit shy they won't show their faces and more just yet. Below them is the beginning of another stand of Hirdmen for Impetus.

The next picture is a "Little Viking" okay, he's a Northern Dwarf from Citadel with the heart of a Viking. To his right there is an out of focus PAK 38 and crew men that was completed last night and waits basing along with the Ulfhednar.

Changing periods now to WW2 with more 20mm SS artillery crewmen for a PAK 40 and PAK 43 from Skytrex.

Lastly,  the peltasts that were started right at the beginning of the Analogue Hobbies painting competition. These will be getting painted over the next few days along with most of the above including the fallen Mycenaean hero in a Dendra panpoly to their right.

Lastly, a warm welcome to both:

  • Russ Gibb
  • John
Hope that you both find something of use in these ramblings.

Cheers for now.

Fury of the Norse 6

Here are a few pictures of a stand of skirmishers for Impetus from Gripping Beast. Still not sure about the bottom colour on the buckler; it may change yet.

More pictures to follow shortly including 15mm armour for Flames of War, 20mm crew men for Disposable Heroes, peltasts and yet more Vikings.

All Hell Let Loose 3

The following pictures continue with the late WW2 painting that has been ongoing here for sometime. This time there is a 150mm IG from Skytrex and crew from SHQ. All are 20mm in scale which is the preferred scale for WW2 gaming here.

The gun has been on the painting table for sometime, over a year in fact, but the crew have only recently been painted.

This is one of four artillery and anti-tank guns that are being painted at present, where all of the crew can be entered into the Analogue Hobbies painting competition. All four are for use with Disposable Heroes.

More to follow shortly.

All Hell Let Loose 2

The following pictures have already been shown on Analogue Hobbies as part of the 3rd Annual Painting competition being held on that blog at present. The two 15mm Sturmtigers are from Battlefront    and are a part of a larger project that is ongoing at present.

The camouflage is made up be layering washes of the green and brown over the base coat. The whole model is then dry brushed with lighter shades of the base colour to achieve the finished results seen here.

There are no markings on these two assault guns as the decals are missing in action and if ever found will be added on.

Good miniatures to assemble and paint and they look the part on the games table when the correct scenery is around them.

More from the painting table shortly.

Cheers for now.
