The start of a new series of posts for this blog detailing the progress on several related projects in different scales.
Firstly, will be the Ayyubid army of Saladin for ADG in 15mm. Figures being a mix of Black Hat Miniatures (Gladiator Miniatures), Essex and Minifigs.
Next will follow the Late Crusaders again in 15mm with the figures coming from Black Hat Miniatures.
In between both of these will be some Crusaders and Saracens in 28mm. Undecided yet which way to go with these although there is a fair chance that this will involve a military order steeped in both history and myth.
The title of these posts is linked to the central theme and location for the armies and a hommage to an old favourite by Magnum:
Day 20 of the #30days30miniatures and managed to complete another Romano Brit last night. This time another Hearthguard from Gripping Beast's Arthurian range.
The other two figures from this unit will be next up for completion over the weekend. There might be a few others as well time allowing.
Day 19 and moved back to Ancients for a brief change of interest.
The Foundry slinger below is from the first range of Greeks cast by Foundry. Different in both scale and sculpting style than the later World of Greeks range.
Day 17 of #30days30miniatures and another figure completed. This time the first of the Romano British Hearthguard from Gripping Beast.
Also spent some time basing Arabs over the last couple of days and have the first elements ready to show as finished stands. These will follow shortly.
Day 16 in the #30days30miniatures painting challenge and the Warlord for the Romano British SAGA warband is finally completed.
The figure is from Gripping Beast and is a favourite from that range. When based he will have two different stand, the first and main stand will have a horn blower. The second will allow companions to be added as per the Warband rules.
To follow there will be the start of a hearth guard unit on foot and the horn blower.
Moving up to the half way point now and progress from day 14 and 15 below.
Above is a slightly fuzzy casualty marker for the Confederates in ACW. Whilst below is an equally fuzzy stand of 6mm Greek light cavalry.
Next up will see a return to 28mm and something new by way of a change.

In addition to being halfway through the 30days30 miniatures painting challenge this is the 500th post on Brushes and Bases. Become a follower and leave a comment if you haven't already done so.
Days 12 and 13 of the #30days30miniatures painting challenge have passed and the following have been completed.
Firstly, the mid level Ranger from Citadel's AD&D range from the mid eighties.
This figure was originally started as a part of the 7th Analogue Hobbies painting challenge and just never got finished. Still need to complete the high level figure to finish the set.
Next up are two stands of Arab spearmen in 15mm for ADG. The figures are from Essex and paint up quickly.
These finish off the core infantry in an Ayyubids army for ADG or just about any Muslim army if you aren't being too pedantic about historical accuracy.
Continued progress with the #30days30miniatures painting challenge.
The second peltast is now complete and ready for basing. The figure is from Foundry's World of Greeks range and will see use in Basic Impetus and another systems in the future.
This evening will see the third figure completed and the stand ready to be textured and flocked.
The guidelines for the challenge are below and are simple to follow:
At the end of each day, you need to complete the painting of one miniature.
Basing is optional.
It can be any miniature you want, from any game, from any system, from any manufacturer.
Partially finished miniatures in your pile are fair game. I figure that this is about finishing miniatures, and working through those pesky figures in your vault. Why not include them?
Have fun!
Sounds like a good basis of a plan and looking forward to starting this off tomorrow. Here is the painting desk as it stands just now:
So, will be removing some of the clutter over the next 30 days by painting 30 miniatures. To be fair most of them are already partially started but that is allowed within the challenge
