Back to the Brushes 311

The first of a small run of US Infantry that were part of a larger group that has moved on to pastures new. Sadly, nobody wants these in their grey primer; so here they are with a bit more colour to their backs.

The set comprises of one spotter team, two 60mm mortars and one 4.2" mortar that requires said mortar. The bases have still to be done on these then, its texture, static grass and varnished before going back to the market with them. Once they are complete will post full pictures and a price so if anyone is interested...leave a comment.

These are also the first finished figures for June 2021

11 x 20mm figures

Hope that you found this interesting.

Stay safe and cheers for now.

Back to the Brushes 273

Its bloody chaos here

In amongst all of this happening there has been some painting done and now mindful of the date here are the first finished figures; 16 20mm D.A.K from SHQ.

These complete the basic platoon and support options for the D.A.K in Chain of Command although there are several other support options to be completed to finish the force off.

Day 23

16 x 20mm figures completed

Cheers for now.

All Hell Let Loose 18

The next two support stands for the D.A.K. from SHQ Miniatures include an 8cm Grw 34 mortar and crew plus a second MG34 because you can never have enough suppressive fire...

These were started during the AHPC X however where not completed in time to be shown there.

To follow these will be another infantry section and some more support for the poor bloody infantry.

Thanks for visiting and hope you found something of interest.

Stay safe

Cheers for now.

All Hell Let Loose 17

The first two sections of the D.A.K infantry platoon recently completed in the AHPC X.  The figures are from SHQ again and there are a couple of rogues in the second squad that shouldn't be there. Call it artistic licence if you will.

The Panzerfaust armed trooper is an extra to be added in if required as a support option.

The second squad is actually the first squad of a pioneer platoon as full support option for the main platoon. This will be smaller in number however there will be additional extras as they are pioneers.

The rogues are in this squad and although in the same colours there are differences with their uniform that are visible if you are willing to look closely.

Thanks for looking off to continue painting another squad of the very same for the QC2020.

Cheers for now

All Hell Let Loose 16

Support stands for the D.A.K in 20mm from SHQ Miniatures.

SHQ have been the go to company for 20mm figures for myself for the last 16 plus years and although slender the figures have stood the test of time well. IMHO that is.

A the rear a 50mm mortar and crew. Production stopped for this mortar in 1941 and it was removed from frontline service during 1942. However, the Granatwerfer 36 remained popular until the end of the war with second line units although ammo did present issues in the late war period.

Also here is the backbone of the German infantry section - the MG 34 or MG40 if mid to late war.  Often considered the most advanced machine gun of its era, it was replaced by the MG40 due easier production of the MG40 over the MG 34.

More support weapons for this platoon soon.

Stay safe

Cheers for now

All Hell Let Loose 15

First finished figures of this year and recently shown in this Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge C as the first entry for this year's challenge.

Picked these figures up at Carronade over a decade ago and decided that this would be their year.

The figures are from the SHQ Mediterrean range of WW2 Germans and are great figures in 20mm. The castings are clear, the detail crisp although to some the figures would slightly too thin.

There are two Lt and two radio operators and spotters however, these figures never go wrong.

There are more from this range to follow throught the challenge including a couple of pieces of armour, support weapons and an AT gun.

Scoring for these I believe is:

11 x 20mm figures at 4 points each, totalling 44 points for my first entry (8.8 % of total completed)

Back to the Brushes 253

First miniatures of the year waiting to have their bases finished. Looking at the forecast for the weather this weekend shouldn't be an issue to get this done.

Not sure if the DAK are aware that Buckingham's bombard might not be that effective against AFVs. Would be an interesting study though.

Cheers for now.

All Hell Let Loose 13

It's been awhile since there has been a post relating to WW2 here and it possibly could be awhile before there is another one; that said here are two armoured cars that have recently been seen here as a part of the Armour bonus round.

Both miniatures are from Frontline Wargaming and are both easy to make and easy to paint. Above left is a Sf Kdz 221 and right a Sf Kdz 223.

These have been painted using a mixture of base coating, washing and dry brushing and fuller description of this can be seen at the link above.

Decals from Skytrex

What the Jabos saw

More of both completed figures and work in progress to follow shortly.

Cheers for now.
