Analogue Hobbies Painting Competition Finale

Well, that is the Analogue Hobbies Painting Competition completed this year and here are some pictures of the last entry submitted.

The pictures here were taken again as the originals had been rushed through under artificial lighting and just didn't do the figures any justice. All of the figures shown are from Redoubt Miniatures and include a victorious Hector centre of the main stand.

A down from above shot showing the depth of the two stands together and it also give an impression of the length of those spears.

The last of the archer skirmisher stands for this army.

Two pictures detailing those shields, all of which have been painted using cross hatching to try and achieve the look of animal hide. By the way, these are not the easiest of shields to attach to the figures and took about twice as long as normal and probably twice as much glue.  The shields here really do reach from neck to heel as described by Homer himself. Have opted for bronze rims here to show a higher quality unit of spearmen.

What the Achaeans would see.

Hector stands over a fallen foeman urging his country men on to great deeds. To his right a companion in full Dendra panoply. Can't see him finishing first in any sprints to the enemy.

Will have be having a slight change over the next few days to rest the eyes from painting bronze; more of which will be made clearer in the next "Back to the Brushes."

Hope that the pictures are of interest.

Cheers for now

Looks very good, I don't think you were the only one rushing pics at the end of the chalenge. I need Cath to reshoot many of my last efforts (sure it's just that she has the better camera)

Fantastic painting on the spearman and archers. The cross hatching on the shields is very effective and does give the appearance of hide.
